The Games That Were Missing From E3 2019
If you are a gamer or connected with the gaming industry somehow, you have surely heard about such event as Electronic Entertainment Expo. It is also known as E3 and has been held every year since 2017. Regardless of such modest experience (just three years), it is very popular and powerful gathering a lot of specialists engaged in this field. Developers of gaming content, producers of hardware needed to use this content, its publishers – everybody attends the event to announce the ready or coming products or to learn about innovations and hot trends.
This year it has been over recently and brought a lot of news to discuss and to hope for. This time it was oriented on live service games like Destiny. There were a lot of press conferences with loud announcements, but there is a range of interesting games worth of your attention which were not highlighted. We’ll not figure out the reasons but suggest to consider them right now.
We do not exactly know why Sony was not represented at E3 this year. But this is a fact – none of the officials took part in the expo. There is an idea that the titles which were announced before are not able to compete with other participators. Perhaps the developer has no resources to continue the projects. Anyway, the awaited Ghost of Tsushima and The Last of Us 2 were not even discussed in an off-site manner. We failed to find any fresh information. It is quite possible that reasons are different but still E3 was not complete without Sony, which is famous for its shows at the events of this kind. Perhaps, this is a sign that great changes are in the making. We’ll see.
Beyond Good and Evil 2
In 2018 announcement of the game Beyond Good and Evil 2 made a splash. There were questions as to costs connected with development. We suppose, due to this conflict and following problems, it was officially notified that the developer was not going to attend E3 with this game. The point is that they still need time to consider core development milestones. It does not mean we can forget about this game. Nope. Just follow the news, and we are sure, Beyond Good and Evil 2 will appear soon.
Starfield and Elder Scrolls 6
Again we did not see this brand with its products at E3 this year, and fans were notified about this beforehand. Our guess that developer wants to release them for next-generation consoles, which are expected next year.
The release was announced last year following the launch of Etrian Odyssey Nexus on 3DS. Now we wait for something new of the next level of possibilities. It can be a completely new world suiting a new console. Still, all those expectations are in vain until now. The new game did not appear at this year’s E3.
Another thrilling game we would like to see at E3 is Gears Tactics. Microsoft announced it last year but did not even say a word about it this time. It is difficult to keep up with this fact because we know its gameplay already, understand some attractive peculiarities making this game unique and wanted.
Skull & Bones
This open-world simulator with pirates as key characters has been announced quite recently and… postponed. We believe it will be done in 2020. This is the second delay, and that suggests an idea of some troubles. Though, perhaps, we are mistaken. There are no official explanations. Let’s think that this developer waits for next year’s next-generation systems just as Bethesda. Another reason is he does not want to show off an unfinished game that is why he keeps silent.
This is a cool fantasy which is rumored about without official confirmations. Some insiders insist that the game should be revealed at the Microsoft conference, but we have not received any information yet. Perhaps the idea of this game looks so attractive that we eager to see it announced. OK, we’ll watch the news.
Metroid Prime 4
There is another delay. Metroid Prime 4 was announced in 2017. But then, unfortunately, development did not meet the standards of Nintendo, which always keeps the highest quality of games. New challenges have been implemented until now. Perhaps the requirements are so strict that it takes time to make something special. All of us hope to see powerful and engaging Metroid Prime 4.
This is an early access game on PC which is supposed to be released for the Xbox One. But a developer team decided to refuse participation in E3 this year and to spend time on thorough development. Of course, there is an intent to deliver the best Early Access and Xbox Game Preview, but still we do not have information about the time of release. The fact that the development process continues is already cheering the news.
If you remember Bayonetta 3 by Nintendo announced in 2017, you certainly expected to hear some news about it at E3 this year. But you did not hear of this game. It is strange because this developer usually speaks about its products a lot, even if they are not ready yet. But still, there is no information which could clear things up. We do not even know the gameplay, and there are no updates.
E3 is a very important event in the gaming field, but it is not able to cover the whole ground, and some information remained behind the screens. For instance, we did not see Sony at E3. A lot of early announced big games were not represented, meaning that we’ll see them next year probably. Some of them are still early in development, and others occurred to be too hard to develop. That is a pity, of course, but there are other products which fill the gap. Still, we should be ready to forget about tempting big titles this year. The above list will help you to survive this delay and do not wait in vain. We hope that these announced but not released games will make us happy in 2020.
