While it’s long been a dull joke about a new iPhone that should make you coffee for such a price, Weber instead of joking makes your phone a cooking assistant. The official Weber® iGrill® app will upgrade you to the best barbecue and grill master in your town! You just should own some Weber equipment and spend some time practicing, of course.

Weber® iGrill® is the official companion app for a range of electric thermometers, including iGrill Classic/Mini/2/3, Kitchen Thermometer Basic/Mini, and urban grills Pulse 1000/2000. All these devices use Bluetooth for interacting with the app on your smartphone.

These devices act a bit differently. iGrill® and Kitchen Thermometer series need you to connect the probe and stick its tip into the thickest part of the meat at least ¼ inch deep. Pulse grills have their own onboard thermometers. But both types of devices are controlled equally easily.

Use the app to select the preset for the type of your steak or barbecue you want today. It will monitor the temperature constantly through probes or onboard thermometers and notify you when it reaches the range you need or gets out of it.

The app contains a number of adjustable timers. According to recipes you prefer, you may keep your meat (or poultry, or fish, or vegetables) at the desired temperature for the required amount of time.  The app will notify you when it’s time to take care of your grill. In Pulse series, you can control the temperature remotely. When you only measure it with a thermometer, you benefit from timers and notifications.

If you’re new to cooking, you’ll appreciate a large collection of presets developed for various cuts of fish or meat. And a pro will appreciate visualization features, like temperature graphs displaying the condition of your steaks.

For restaurants or bars with lots of grills, iGrill® is the one app to rule them all. The app can handle multiple devices connected to the same phone or tablet, with distinct timers for any particular grill or thermometer. To make them even more distinguishable, the user can give them different names and mark each with its own color. And yes, if you wear Apple Watch, it will keep you aware too, ending you notifications and displaying the current temperature for all connected devices.

No matter what supported device you use; Weber has got it covered. If you need any help in handling it, you can find the manual or contact Customer Support right from the app. By the way, the developers read the reviews and constantly react, so if you have any idea or complaint about the app, don’t be afraid or ashamed to share it. It’s tasty!

Verdict

It’s a Super Meat Joy, with technologies accessing even such an outside activity or ancient mystery of cooking. The app will help you get the best out of your Weber Bluetooth-enabled devices, and even if you’re a steak master already, you probably can learn something new from it.

Pros

  •         Various devices supported;
  •         Temperature graphs and estimated time;
  •         Apple Watch support;
  •         Notifications when your attention is required;
  •         Support always alert.

Cons

  •         Some don’t like hi-tech involved into this ancient cooking mystery.
